In additional to regular rental apartments, Heka has 44 special housing locations providing a total of approximately 3,000 apartments.
These special housing locations are entire properties intended for special housing. In addition to these, some of Heka’s rental buildings include individual sheltered homes, related common facilities and facilities operated by the City of Helsinki Social Services and Health Care Division.
In addition to apartments, special housing locations can include various types of common facilities and facilities operated by the Social Services and Health Care Division.
Heka’s special apartments are intended for older people, people with disabilities, substance abuse and mental health rehabilitees, the homeless and other special needs groups.
Unlike for other Heka rental apartments, tenant selection for special apartments is carried out by the City of Helsinki Social Services and Health Care Division.
Heka rents out the properties to the Social Services and Health Care Division and is responsible for their maintenance.
More special housing locations will be built in the future through renovations and new construction. There are also larger senior centre projects underway in different parts of Helsinki.
