Heka's winter reminder: snow work, gritting and safe everyday life

Snow provides a wintry atmosphere and light, but it also means work for Heka's employees and residents. This winter reminder gives you advice on how to keep the yard and other outdoor areas of your home functional and safe in winter, and how to regulate the temperature in your home. Heka's property maintenance operatives do the snow work in the yard and take care of gritting, but residents also have their own responsibilities.

Maria Aspala appointed as the new managing director of Heka

Master of Laws Maria Aspala has been appointed as the new managing director of Heka. Heka’s current managing director Jaana Närö will be retiring on 31 March 2025. Aspala is set to assume the position of managing director on 1 April, but will start her induction to the position on 17 March.

Heka’s average rent will be 35% lower than market rents in Helsinki next year as well

Next year, the average monthly rent of regular apartments owned by Heka will be EUR 14.48 per square metre. Currently, the average rent is EUR 13.76. Heka’s average rent in 2025 will be 5.2% higher than in 2024.

Heka aims at preventing as many evictions as possible and ensuring that residents do not lose their homes

Heka offers residents who are experiencing difficulties paying their rent several opportunities to manage the situation before the rental debt situation escalates to eviction. Our debt collection process is customer-oriented and flexible. Eviction is always the last-resort option.

We will start sending debt collection text messages to tenants who have started accumulating rental debt

As of October, Heka will start sending out debt collection text messages about unpaid rent.

Our tenant survey has been sent

Every year, Heka surveys its residents’ satisfaction with its housing services and resident activities through a tenant survey. We use the results to develop our housing services.

New senior housing in Laajasalo – application period for Svanströminkuja 5 to start on 17 September 2024

Towards the end of the year, a senior location with a total of 77 apartments will be completed for Heka in Laajasalo. People over the age of 55 may apply for housing in senior locations.

Become a recycling ambassador for your house and distribute biowaste bags and waste sorting guides to other residents. You can also do other actions to promote waste sorting, such as sharing relevant recycling topics within the building’s own communication channels.

Lease harmonisation begins at eight Heka locations in eastern Helsinki

We will gradually harmonise our tenants’ leases between over the coming years. This will involve updating the content of our lease agreements so that in future all of our tenants are subject to the same terms. The harmonisation will change some of the terms of our tenants’ lease agreements, but will not affect rent.
The aim of the harmonisation is to achieve better housing comfort as a result of all tenants being subject to the same agreement terms going forward.

Start of lease agreement harmonisation postponed to autumn

The lease agreement harmonisation schedule will be pushed back slightly. According to the original schedule, the harmonisation of lease agreements was supposed to start in late May. The schedule change is due to reasons related to our customer information system.

New Heka homes to be completed in Laajasalo in late July – application period starting on 30 April

The total number of apartments is 81, ranging from studios to family apartments of nearly a hundred floor square metres.
