Description of the location

April 2023 will see the completion of another new Heka location in Postipuisto; Lavakatu 10 consists of three buildings with a total of 139 apartments. These include 20 apartments reserved for persons with intellectual disabilities, meaning that the location has 119 normal rental apartments, ranging from studios to five-room family apartments.

The buildings have 6–8 floors each and a total of five stairwells, all of which are accessible and include lifts. Lavakatu 10 is a non-smoking location, meaning that smoking is prohibited inside the apartments, on balconies and in all shared facilities, including the block yard.

All of the apartments have either a glazed balcony or balconette and feature vinyl plank floors. The kitchens feature free-standing cookers with cast iron hotplates, cooker hoods and refrigerator-freezers as well as space and connections reserved for dishwashers and microwave ovens. Each apartment has its own water meter, with water charged for based on consumption.

The buildings include three shared saunas and two shared laundry rooms located on the ground floors. There is also storage space in the basements and attics of the buildings. The location has 47 parking spaces, which are located in the area’s shared car park. There are also bicycle storage spaces in the yard area and indoors in the basements and at ground level.

The facades of the buildings are mostly made out of brick. The street-facing brickwork features three different shades – grey and two different shades of red. The yard-facing brickwork features two different types of light-coloured bricks.

In the developing Postipuisto area of Pohjois-Pasila, you are practically next door to services and hobbies. Mall of Tripla with all of its services and the Käpylä and Pasila railway stations with excellent transport connections are nearby. The area is easy to reach by train, bus, tram and bicycle, and the greenery of Central Park is only a short trip away.

The head designer of the location is architect Hannu Huttunen from ARK-house arkkitehdit Oy.
