Description of the location
Juhana-herttuan tie 7 is a diverse housing location in the pleasant Koskela neighbourhood. The buildings have 5–6 floors and a total of 206 apartments, ranging from cosy 34-square-metre studios to spacious family apartments of over 100 square metres. Most of the apartments are practical one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. All apartments have a balcony, most of which have glazing, and a separate heated storage compartment.
The residents' everyday life is made easier by practical shared facilities, such as a club room, a laundry room with drying rooms, a sauna and various storage facilities.
The kitchens in the apartments are equipped with a fridge-freezer, dishwasher, oven, cooker, extractor hood and space for a microwave. The apartments have light-coloured surfaces, vinyl plank floors and practical ceramic tiles in the bathrooms.
The major renovation of Juhana-herttuan tie 7 will be completed in 2026. The site will be renovated in two phases: the first phase (buildings A and B) will be completed in January 2026 and the second phase in late 2026. In the renovation project, all of the apartments will be renovated to new standards. At the same time, the facades, yard areas and shared facilities will be renovated, and the energy efficiency and accessibility of the buildings will be improved. In connection with the renovation project, the commercial premises previously located on the site will be converted into apartments: there will be nine new apartments in total.
Koskela provides a diverse everyday environment for around 4,000 inhabitants. The area has comprehensive services, such as a daycare centre, school and senior centre, good bus connections around Helsinki, and plenty of nature.
The original designer of the site is Keijo Laine Ky architectural agency.
