If you do not pay your rent, a utility charge or an invoice by the due date, you will be charged interest on the late payment, accrued from the due date. On this page, you will find information on interest invoices and interest on late payments.
If the due date falls on a weekday public holiday or a weekend, payment is not due until the next weekday. You will be charged interest on the late payment until the payment has been made. This practice is based on the Interest Act.
We invoice for interest on late payments four times a year. The minimum amount of a late payment interest invoice is EUR 5. If the amount of interest on late payments is less than EUR 5, we will wait until the amount exceeds EUR 5.
We also charge interest on late payments if you have concluded a payment agreement on the unpaid sum. The invoicing of interest is specified in the terms of the payment agreement.
Interest on late payments will also accrue even if you have notified Heka that you will be paying your rent, another charge or an invoice late. The notification does not change the original due date on the rent, charge or invoice.
The amount of interest on late payments is affected by the interest rate applied, the unpaid sum, and the number of days by which the payment is overdue. You can get an idea of the amount of accrued interest by using the late payment interest calculators that are available online. Interest accrues on overdue rent and invoices up to and including the date of payment.
Please always check the interest invoice carefully. If you notice an error in the interest invoice, please primarily contact our rent payment advice service via the OmaHeka Resident Portal. We will look into any errors and correct them.
