New Heka apartments to be completed in Jätkäsaari in May – application period starts on 10 February
The new Heka location Melkinlaituri 4 in Jätkäsaari includes 69 new apartments. The application period for the apartments starts on Tuesday 10 February. You can apply for the apartments by submitting an application to the City of Helsinki.

Submit your housing application to the City of Helsinki. If you have a pending housing application, you can add the apartments of the new location to your application by editing the application during the application period. A third of the apartments are reserved as exchange apartments for people already living in a Heka apartment.
Later in February, the application period for the apartments of Mestarintie 18 will start on Tuesday 24 February.
Melkinlaituri 4, your new home port in Jätkäsaari
The new Melkinlaituri 4 property will be completed in the maritime Jätkäsaari in May 2026. The building is located by the sea, at the corner of Atlantinkatu and Melkinlaituri. Everyday activities run smoothly in the area: trams 8 and 9 operate along Atlantinkatu and you can walk or cycle to the city centre through the Hyväntoivonpuisto park. There are extensive services, and plenty of new brick-and-mortar shops are being established in the area. A new comprehensive school and kindergarten will be completed in the Melkinlaituri area in 2027.
Jätkäsaari is an urban, seaside district at the southwestern tip of Helsinki. The dense construction, sheltered closed blocks, street-level shops and trams give Jätkäsaari a downtown atmosphere. The area has a comprehensive school, five kindergartens and a library. The meandering Hyväntoivonpuisto park and sports park in the middle of Jätkäsaari offer recreation and leisure opportunities.
Optimal shared facilities make everyday life easier
Melkinlaituri 4 has 69 rental apartments, 5–8 floors and two stairwells with lifts. The lively brick facades of the building are in three different shades: black-brown, ash grey and light grey.
The building and apartments are designed to be fully accessible. Melkinlaituri 4 is a non-smoking location, meaning that smoking is prohibited inside the apartments, on balconies, in all shared facilities and in the courtyard.
Everyday life is made easier by the residents’ shared facilities, such as a free laundry room with drying rooms, a multi-purpose club room, a sauna on the top floor and storage for outdoor equipment. Parking is available in a shared parking garage in the district. One of the parking spaces is designed for people with reduced mobility. The civil defence shelter is in the basement and it is used as a storage room for movable property during normal use. There is storage space for bicycles both in the courtyard and in the storage rooms on the first floor.

Well-equipped, cosy apartments
The apartments range from 35.5-square-metre studio flats to over 95-square-metre four-room family apartments. Two-bedroom apartments are the most common. The apartments are light-coloured and easy to decorate. The floors are made of vinyl plank, and the bathrooms have ceramic tile flooring and a spruce panel roof.
The well-equipped kitchens come with induction cookers, fridge-freezers and dishwashers. The appliances are white and vary in number and size depending on the type of apartment. There is a reserved space for microwave ovens. The kitchen countertops are laminate surfaces, and the sink area is made from stainless steel.
The bathrooms have a sink with a vanity unit, a mirror cabinet and a laundry cabinet either in the bathroom or in another area of the apartment. The furniture are made of metal. There are space and connections reserved for a washing machine and tumble dryer. The shower has a fixed shower panel and a curtain rod. The bathrooms have centrally controlled water-circulation underfloor heating.
Each apartment has a green room with access to a narrow balcony. The apartments on the first floor have French balconies instead of external balconies. The balconies are not accessible.
Renovated Heka apartments to be completed in Tapanila in March
The application period for the apartments of Heka location Saniaistie 3 has started and will continue as long as there are apartments available.
The location includes a total of 117 apartments, ranging from functional studios to more spacious three-room apartments. The generally light-coloured apartments have vinyl plank floors and ceramic tiles in the bathrooms, which are practical and low-maintenance. The kitchens have ample storage space, a fridge-freezer, dishwasher, oven, cooker and extractor hood, and space for a microwave. The one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments have their own balconies.
