Heka bans short-term subleasing of its apartments

In future, the short-term subleasing of Heka apartments is prohibited and apartments can no longer be subleased through Airbnb, for example. Until now, Heka tenants were allowed to sublease their apartment to another person for a short period of time with Heka's permission.

Heka has decided to ban the short-term subleasing of its apartments because tenants have been subleasing them without Heka’s permission. There have also been other issues surrounding subleasing. There have only been approximately twenty cases per year in which apartments have been subleased for short periods with Heka’s permission.

Tenants who have already obtained permission from Heka for the short-term subleasing of their apartment will still be allowed to sublease their apartments. However, Heka will not be granting any new permissions for subleasing.

A tenant who subleases their apartment despite the ban will be considered to have handed over their apartment illegally. If a tenant subleases their apartment only once, they will be issued a warning. If a tenant engages in unauthorised subleasing frequently and for long periods, Heka may take further action, including the termination of the tenant’s rental agreement.

The subletting and temporary assignment of Heka apartments to another person will continue to be allowed.
