The application period for two new Heka locations, Saariseläntie 1 and Smoltinkaari 1, starts in June
Apartments in two new Heka locations will be completed in late August. Applications for the apartments in Smoltinkaari 1 can be submitted starting from 3 June. The application period for the apartments in Saariseläntie 1 that will be completed during the first phase will start on 10 June.

You can apply for the apartments by submitting an application to the City of Helsinki.
A new building with 97 apartments in Tapanila
Smoltinkaari 1 is located in Tapanila, in the new residential area in the Fallkulla wedge (Fallkullan kiila), where homes will be built for more than a thousand residents. The location has 97 apartments:
- studio apartments of 31–35.5 square metres
- one-bedroom apartments of 43.5–54.5 square metres
- two-bedroom apartments of 65.5–68.5 square metres
- apartments of 82–91 square metres with four rooms and a kitchen.
Each apartment includes a glazed balcony and a storage compartment either on the ground floor or the attic floor. The kitchen has an induction stove, a fridge-freezer and a dishwasher.
The Tapanila train station is approximately 200 metres away. Local services are available within a walking distance in addition to the more comprehensive range of services in Malmi a few kilometres away. There are recreational routes near the location.

The new location in Mellunmäki will be completed in two stages
The new location in Saariseläntie 1 in Mellunmäki includes two buildings. The building at the address Saariseläntie 7 will be completed in August, and the application period for the apartments will start on 10 June 2025. The second building at the address Saariseläntie 1 will be completed near the end of the year, and the application period for these apartments will start later. This means that in June, you can apply for the apartments in the location Saariseläntie 1 that are in the building at the address Saariseläntie 7.
The building that will be completed in August has a total of 35 apartments, and applications for them can be submitted starting from 10 June:
- studio apartments of 30–39.5 square metres
- one-bedroom apartments of 47.5–49 square metres
- two-bedroom apartments of 63.5–69.5 square metres
- apartments of 89 square metres with four rooms and a kitchen.
The apartments in Saariseläntie 7 include either a glazed balcony or a balconette as well as a storage compartment in the basement. The kitchen has an induction stove, a fridge-freezer and a dishwasher.
This location is considered urban infill, and it is right next to the border of Helsinki and Vantaa. There is a play park and a residential park nearby, among other things. The Mellunmäki metro station is less than one kilometre away, and several buses stop at Mellunmäentie nearby. The services are clustered around the metro station, and there are good opportunities for outdoor recreation in the area.

How to apply for an apartment in a new Heka building
You can apply for the apartments by submitting an application to the City of Helsinki. If you have a pending housing application, you can add the apartments of the new location to your application by editing the application during the application period. A third of the apartments are reserved as exchange apartments for people already living in a Heka apartment.
Please note that according to a government decision, income limits were introduced in Heka tenant selection at the beginning of 2025. The income limits are applied to both new applicants and those changing apartments within Heka.
